Livvy Dunne is a rising star in the gymnastics world. She rose to fame as a member of the LSU team. Dunne has a large following on social media. She recently shared a video of herself practicing on her Instagram stories. In it, Dunne did an aerial on the balance beam. She captioned the post, "Summer fun." How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Livvy Dunne stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
1 She Does Gymnastics
Gymnastics is the main way Dunne stays fit. Places Leisure states that the sport has a lot of benefits. "Gymnastics can help maintain a healthy body, which is key to preventing many health conditions such as asthma, cancer, obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Being involved in gymnastics helps encourage a healthy lifestyle, including regular physical activity and eating a well-balanced diet. Participation in weight-bearing activities, including gymnastics poses, can build strong, healthy bones, helping to reduce the risks of developing osteoporosis later on in life."
2 She's Finding Balance
Dunne told People that she is working on finding a balance in her life. "The past few years, juggling NIL or ever since my sophomore year, since the summer of 2021, I've definitely had a hard time finding balance. That's really important because if you don't have balance, that can affect your mental health. I finally feel like I got a grasp on it this year. It's just compartmentalizing things mentally is very important in my everyday routine."
3 She Rides Horses
Dunne likes to horseback ride to stay in shape. She shared these photos on Instagram of herself and a friend riding on the beach in Los Cabos. Dunne captioned the post, "The horse's name was Friday." Cornerstone Ranch states that riding has a lot of benefits. "As the horse moves, the rider is constantly thrown off balance, requiring that the rider's muscles contract and relax in an attempt to rebalance. This exercise reaches deep muscles not accessible in conventional physical therapy. The three-dimensional rhythmical movement of the horse is similar to the motion of walking, teaching rhythmical patterns to the muscles of the legs and trunk. By placing the rider in different positions on the horse (therapeutic vaulting), we can work different sets of muscles. Stopping and starting the horse, changing speed and changing direction increase the benefits riding offers."
4 She Spends Time Outside
Dunne shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself spending time outside. UC Davis states that this can help with physical wellness. "Getting out into nature can lead us to want to walk, bike, hike, or kayak more often. People typically engage in regular physical activity when they're in nature. So, stepping outside can help you keep a healthy weight or even lose weight by increasing activity levels. Studies have also shown that being in nature has a positive effect on our bodies by reducing cortisol levels, muscle tension, and demands on our cardiovascular systems (lowers heart rate and blood pressure). Being out in nature often may lead to lower rates of heart disease. The great outdoors can also help you increase your vitamin D level, which is important for your bones, blood cells, and immune system."
5 She Understands The Importance Of Security
As Dunne's star rose, so did her need for privacy and protection. After an incident, she made sure to have security with her at meets. "Actually, we've got it settled down a bit," Dunne said to People. "We haven't competed since last season, so we'll see what this season holds. But after the incident in Utah that happened last year, we now have a security guard that travels with the LSU gymnastics team."
