Many people associate life, business and sports coaching with making major shifts in decisions, mindset, action and consequently your direction in life. Yes, this is all true. However, listen to the athletes at the Paris Olympics. They talk about how they listened to their coach or recalled what they said. That slight difference that made all the difference. Those small micro-changes make all the difference between winning a bronze, silver and gold! As you may have seen, the difference can be hundredths of a second. Now image the small changes that can accumulate in your results over many years in the game of life. The British cycling team looked at the tiniest of edges during the London Olympics, right down to which pillow helped them to get their best sleep. What micro-changes could give you the edge?

A good overview of the potential effects.

Have you persisted, as everyone has told you to do, only to find that life keeps repeating itself? Whether it’s growing your career or business, a new relationship, or seeking a new direction, life might be whispering or sometimes shouting a lesson for you to learn. If you keep the same mindset and beliefs and keep repeating the same thing, you will continue to get the same type of results. This may be acceptable if you are investing each month and rely on compounding. In other circ*mstances, it plays out as “Why does this always happen to me?”Start to take notice.Objectively observe. Look, listen and viscerally feel these lessons. There are reasons why you get certain results. No more. No less. What do you need to learn? What actions will you take forward?

Never give up …It took teamwork. They described how one person keeps them on course with a strong steer. Two of them set the pace. They have to work in unison. They won by 0.15 seconds. Here is one personal story that led to victory …Georgia’s story explains her advice to “Never give up”. Georgie Brayshaw, who was in a coma for nine days after her horse fell aged 15, was part of the women’s quadruple sculls crew that topped the podium, with Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott and Lola Anderson.Georgie was picked up by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and spent nine days in a coma. When she came round, her left side was paralysed for around a year, and her parents were told she might not walk again.“I had to retrain myself to use the left side of my body but even when I started rowing at 22, coaches noticed that there were so many instances where my left side just did not connect in the gym so I had to do loads of extra work,” she said.Georgie said the rowing club she joined during her second year at the University of Nottingham was still new; she would row once a week and “it wasn’t serious at all”. Family issues then led her to give up a year later, but she started again after university.Amazing to hear that her early experience of rowing included as much time falling in the water than on the boat.
