What season does Parks and Rec get bad? ›

7 Season 1

Nearly everyone agrees that the first season of Parks and Rec is the weakest of them all; in fact, some fans argue that new viewers should skip this season altogether. That said, it's also the shortest of the seasons, clocking in at just six 22-minute episodes.

Paul Schneider left Parks and Recreation because the character he had agreed to play changed in mid-season. The writers went in a different direction. There was less intensity and contempt in the relationships between the characters, and he did not like who his character became.

Chris Pratt was absent for much of the early part of the season, due to him filming Guardians of the Galaxy in London. Executive producer Michael Schur stated the show went to London for the first two episodes in order for Pratt's character Andy to make an appearance.

This season differs from any other season of Parks and Recreation, in that it details a much larger story arc for the characters, showcasing their growth over the course of the show.

Season six

Andy spends the early part of season 6 in England attending to Sweetum's charity work. Before he went to England, he loses 50 pounds after giving up beer (offered as an in-show explanation for Pratt's weight loss associated with his Guardians of the Galaxy role).

Mark and Leslie had sex on one occasion and Leslie harbored romantic feelings for the next six years, although Mark does not return the feelings, and in fact did not recollect their night together for several years afterward.

And while the Parks and Recreation cast became great friends through the series, Rob—who played fitness guru Chris Traeger in the mockumentary sitcom for five seasons—initially entered the show without any intention of staying on for long.

The season also featured guest appearances by Megan Mullally, Will Forte and Parker Posey, among others. To accommodate Amy Poehler's pregnancy, the first six episodes of the third season were filmed immediately after season two wrapped so they could be saved for a projected an air date for September 2010.
